The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled several prominent members, including former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision was announced on Saturday during the party’s 2025 National Convention holding in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Those expelled also include former PDP National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kamaldeen Ajibade, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, and a number of other party chieftains.
According to the announcement made at the convention ground, the expulsion was ratified by an overwhelming majority of delegates in what party officials described as a decisive step toward restoring discipline ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Convention leaders said the action was part of broader efforts to rebuild unity within the party and address long-standing internal disputes that intensified after the 2023 election cycle.
Although full details of the offences and deliberations were not immediately released, party officials said the decision followed reports from various disciplinary committees and consultations with zonal leaders.
The PDP maintains that the move is aimed at strengthening its internal structure and eliminating tendencies that undermine collective progress.
