At the inaugural meeting of the Osun State Collegiate Management Council team, the ADC chieftain calls for unity and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Pastor Akintunde Fasipe, has urged Nigerians to support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, accusing President Bola Tinubu’s administration of worsening the economic hardship facing citizens.
Fasipe made the call at the inaugural meeting of the Osun State Collegiate Management Council team, where he addressed the state of the nation and urged members to mobilise support for the ADC ahead of the next general elections.
Fasipe, who chairs the council, a body under the ADC Presidential Campaign Council responsible for coordinating and mobilising support groups across Osun State, expressed concern over the rising cost of living and the financial pressure on Nigerian households.
He argued that the economic policies introduced by the Tinubu administration had intensified the hardship experienced by ordinary citizens, particularly following the removal of the fuel subsidy and the subsequent increase in the cost of goods and services.
Describing some of the administration’s policies as “satanic,” Fasipe faulted the government’s handling of the economy, insisting that the reforms had worsened living conditions for many Nigerians.
“We are here for a better Nigeria. We are talking about Nigeria and the people of Osun State,” he said.
The ADC chieftain urged party members and support groups to embrace unity, strengthen their grassroots structures and work collectively towards building a credible political alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also recalled the contributions of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo to the development of the Yoruba people, noting that despite Awolowo’s influence and political following, his ideals were not universally embraced during his lifetime.
Fasipe encouraged ADC members to remain committed to their political convictions while welcoming new supporters into the party.
He expressed confidence in Atiku Abubakar’s ability to connect with ordinary Nigerians and promote the ADC’s message nationwide, citing the former vice president’s political influence in parts of the North-East and North-West.
Fasipe, who contested for the Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency seat under the ADC in the last election, called on Nigerians dissatisfied with the prevailing economic situation to support the party and participate actively in the democratic process.
Fasipe also described the 2027 general election as a significant opportunity for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, expressing the view that his policies and experience in leadership position him to present an alternative vision for Nigeria.
According to him, Atiku’s experience as a former vice president and his understanding of national issues could help him connect with Nigerians seeking solutions to the country’s economic challenges.
He urged ADC members and support groups to intensify grassroots mobilisation and engage citizens on the party’s agenda ahead of the elections.
He urged members of the Osun State Collegiate Management Council and support groups to intensify mobilisation efforts and build stronger networks of support groups across Osun State as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
