Lagos House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, has been impeached by 32 members of the house. The deputy speaker, Mojisola Ojora, representing one of the state constituencies in Apapa, was elected as the new Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. In removing the speaker, the lawmakers alleged multiple financial and statutory violations against Obasa, the longest-serving speaker of the Lagos State Assembly. Before becoming speaker, Ojora was the assembly’s chief whip and recently served as the deputy speaker. Obasa had before his impeachment been accused of allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement.

An Oyo State High Court, sitting at Ring Road on Monday granted bail to Olori Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Oriyomi Hazmat, and Abdulahi Fasasi. The Nation reports that Justice K. The police in Cross River State have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly killing his mother for ritual purposes. Irene Ugbo, the police spokesperson in Cross River, confirmed the suspect’s arrest and detention to reporters on Friday in Calabar. Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested seven suspects for allegedly killing two Uber drivers in the Lekki and Ajah areas of the state.
