The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) on Monday announced the arrest of 93 Nigerians suspected of involvement in internet fraud and breaches of immigration laws. According to a statement by the GIS Head of Public Affairs, Maud Anima Quainoo, the arrests followed an intelligence-led raid on a suspected cybercrime network operating at Devtraco Estate in Accra. Nigeria recorded a trade surplus of ₦5.17 trillion in the first quarter of 2025, as exports rose faster than imports, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its latest Foreign Trade in Goods Statistics report. The report showed that the country’s total merchandise trade stood at ₦36.02 trillion in the period under review, representing an increase of 6.19 per cent compared with ₦33.93 trillion recorded in the corresponding period of 2024. ‘ The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its ex-gantry petrol price to N1,075 per litre, marking the first price cut after three successive hikes that had pushed the cost of the commodity significantly higher in recent weeks. No fewer than 19 persons arrested for various environmental sanitation offences have been convicted by a Magistrate Court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos State, following prosecution by the Lagos Waste Management Authority. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said its Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme has cut cargo clearance time by more than 75 per cent while generating N1.585 trillion in revenue from compliant operators. Data released by the Service showed that average cargo clearance time for AEO-certified companies dropped from 168 hours to 41 hours, a 75.6 per cent reduction, marking one of the most significant improvements in Nigeria’s port efficiency metrics in recent years.
